"Mammos 'Til Midnight" recognizes Breast Cancer Awareness month

As a way to recognize Breast Cancer Awareness month, Saint Francis Healthcare is hosting "Mammos 'Til Midnight," which offers extended appointment hours for women to receive their annual screening mammogram. The event takes place October 21 at Saint Francis Hospital in Bartlett and on October 28 at the Memphis location.

Extended hours start at 5 p.m. and go until midnight. The appointment also includes a relaxing environment with wine, cheese, and hor d'eouvres. Appointments at Saint Francis Hospital-Bartlett may be scheduled by calling 901-820-7575, while appointments at Saint Francis Hospital-Memphis may be scheduled by calling 901-765-3279. A physician referral is not required.

According to the American Cancer Society, approximately 1 in 8 women will develop invasive breast cancer during their lifetime. However, early detection through mammogram screenings, increased public awareness of breast cancer, and improved treatments have helped reduce the rate of death from breast cancer in the United States. Mammogram screenings can detect breast cancer when it is smaller and more confined to the breast, allowing the cancer to be treated more easily.
