The pursuit to buy a wheel-chair accessible van for a mid-south girl with a rare bone disease is not over. A basketball tournament fundraiser is being held in her honor.

The “Destiny’s Ride to Adventure” 3 on 3 Co-ed basketball tournament is being held October 15 at Trinity Church in Southaven.

Destiny White is a 12-year-old miracle. She was born with Osteogenesis Imperfecta, which causes her bones to break with little to no cause. She was born with multiple broken bones and fractures and given between three hours and three months to live.

Now that she is older, it has become increasingly difficult for her to go places with her family without a wheelchair accessible van.

Back in May she was a part of a national campaign to win a wheel-chair accessible van, and also has raised money through a GoFundMe page.

Her family has been offered a temporary van, but is looking for something permanent.

So far, because of Osteogenesis Imperfecta, Destiny has broken 100 bones.

But, that doesn't prevent her from dreaming of going to plenty of places, such as Canada, Mexico, and even Japan.

All proceeds from the tournament will go toward buying the vehicle.
