MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) -

A car slammed into Jiffy Lube Saturday morning.

Police said they heard a gunshot in the area of Sam Cooper Boulevard and East Parkway when a man drove up to the officers and said another driver shot at him.

Officers followed a 2004 Infiniti until it crashed into a Jiffy Lube.

Police said the driver, later identified as Sheledia Pugh, tried to run, but was caught and arrested. Police found a pistol with a used casing lodged in it.

"It's just crazy that some people don't know how to act on the road," driver Tonya Hardaway said.

Workers at the store, located on the corner Poplar Avenue and Fenwick Road, boarded up the damage after the car ran into the building at 3:30 a.m.

The car went halfway into the store, causing several thousand dollars in damage.

The store could be closed up to a month.

"It's best if you see anybody acting crazy in the streets, let them go on about their business and just stop," Hardaway said. "Just stop what you're doing."

Pugh is charged with aggravated assault, driving without a license, evading arrest, possessing a deadly weapon with intent to commit a crime, and reckless driving.
