MPD: Man robs grocery store, comes back later as customer

MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) -

Memphis Police Department is searching for a man accused of robbing a grocery store and coming back the same day to make a purchase.

Police said at 2:12 p.m. Thursday, a man walked into Sunshine Grocery on Jackson Avenue and robbed the store at gunpoint. He then ran from the store. An undetermined about of money was taken.

Later in the same day, police said he entered the store at 6:44 p.m. and made a purchase.

The suspect is described as a black man, standing 6 foot and weighing 200 pounds. He was last seen wearing a blue shirt with a red symbol on the front, blue jeans, and red shoes. He was armed with a black, semi-automatic handgun during the alleged robbery.

The man is believed to be driving a 2006 Pontiac Grand Prix.

No shots were fired and no injuries were reported.
