Time is running out if you want to register to vote in the November election in Tennessee.

If you're known to wait until the last minute, these tips are for you.

Staff members at the Shelby County Election Office said there are some things you need to know to be ready for this election right before the deadline.

"No exceptions. Last line in the sand that we cannot cross," Administrator of Elections Linda Phillips said.

Phillips said the deadline is the deadline and there is not another chance. She also gave some other tips on ensuring you can cast your vote in November.

When filling out your application, make sure you do it completely. She said skipping questions causes the most delays, like if you're a citizen or 18-years old or older.

"25 percent of people don't check those boxes and we need that information," Phillips said.

Also, use your current address.

Election staff said using an old address after you have moved counts as giving false election documents, which is a Class E felony. Make sure it's correct, but understand a late registration means no vote this election.

"I feel your pain, but I'm sorry," Phillips said. "It either needs to be postmarked on October 11 or you have to come in person."

Memphians said they're ready and encourage others to do the same.

"Every voice counts," registered voter Brittany Anderson said.

"Your vote really does matter," voter Joshua Berkeley said. "Don't let anybody else influence that."

"Get on out and register and vote," Phillips added.
