Ole Miss is trying to put to bed any controversy surrounding quarterback Chad Kelly's foray onto a New Jersey high school football field last Friday night to defend his brother, who reportedly was the victim of a late hit.
Cell phone video of the incident shows Kelly being pushed back off the field after he had rushed onto it from the stands and gotten involved in what was a bench clearing brawl between the two teams.
Kelly later apologized, telling ESPN it was a "bad decision" on his part. But, added if anyone saw a family member in need of help, they would come to the rescue, too.
Rebels Head Coach Hugh Freeze put this out on Twitter, this afternoon..
"I have spoken to Chad and his family. He understands he should have handled this difficult situation with his brother differently. He has apologized, and we will continue to address this when he returns to campus."
Ole Miss was off last weekend and Kelly was visiting Family. The senior is one of the top quarterback prospects for the 2017 NFL Draft. Ole Miss plays at Arkansas on Saturday.
