A Better Mid-South: Respect for women

A Better Mid-South: Respect for women

MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - Editorial by Tracey Rogers, Vice President and General Manager of WMC Action News 5:

I am not declaring my support for one presidential candidate over another, but I just can't sit by and not say something about a major topic in the headlines today and that's the degradation of women.

I have heard a few comments brushing off the conversation captured on tape between Donald Trump and NBC News Anchor Billy Bush as just locker room banter.

I was proud to see several pro athletes stand up and say this was way beyond locker room banter.

I would like to think in this day and time these type of conversations are few and far between.  I'm not naive enough to believe they don't happen, but I just ask if you are a man involved in a conversation like this--please remember the person you are talking about is a human being, not an object and if you are a man or woman witnessing a conversation like this please do what you can to stop it.

I want to hear what you think. email me at abettermidsouth@wmctv.com, or post on my Facebook page, A Better Mid-South.

Degrading women is not acceptable. Celebrating women and their accomplishments makes this A Better Mid-South.
