MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) -

Three people were taken to the hospital after a shooting that happened in the 4500 block of Jamaica Avenue.

Police said the shooting happened just before 1 p.m. Wednesday.

"I heard like pah, pah, pah, pah, pah," Cierra Gregory said.

According to neighbors, an argument in the neighborhood got out of hand and erupted in gunfire.

"They pulled out their gun and got to shooting," Sky Harris said.

Harris said the fight was over something someone said on Facebook. Residents said a group of neighbors have been fighting for quite sometime. They said it is nothing new.

Harris said even she was ready to fight too, until the father of one girl jumped in.

"He went to his car, got his gun and just started shooting," Harris said.

It is the latest of multiple shootings in the city of Memphis. There have been at least a half dozen people shot in the past 24 hours. Some of the victims even died from their injuries.

"It's kind of sickening to my stomach because most of it is young people," Gregory said.

It's especially tough for Gregory. Her father was robbed, shot, and killed just a few months ago. Now, she has one message for everyone.

"It needs to stop," she said.

The condition of the victims is unknown at this time.

Officers detained at least one person during their investigation.
