MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) -

World War II veterans are back in the Mid-South after visiting Pear Harbor.

A large group of veterans took a trip back to where they served our country during WWII. The veterans spent time back at the area where many of them were stationed following the attacks on Pearl Harbor during World War II.

During their trip, they made visits to important monumental and historical sites such as the USS Arizona Memorial, Punchbowl cemetery, and the Naval Museum at Barber's Point.

"We had lunch one day with the Navy Active," one veteran said.

The trip was free for each veteran, courtesy of funds raised by the group "Forever Young Senior Veterans."

"Great trip. This was a great group we had out there," Jack Taylor said.

As each veteran deplaned at the Memphis International Airport, a patriot guard was there to meet them with a hero's welcome home - complete with thank yous, smiles, and gratitude.

"Everyone honored us everywhere we went," Taylor said.
