MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) -

Surveillance video shows someone open fire on a mother's South Memphis home.

It happened around 8:30 Monday night at Yolanda Spates' home on Humber Street.

The video shows three cars pull up outside Spates' home. Then, without warning, the people inside the cars open fire on the house.

"They were just shooting, shooting non-stop! Non-stop shooting, shooting, shooting, and everyone was down," Spates said.

Memphis Police Department classified the attack as an aggravated assault, but they have very few details about the people responsible for the shooting.

Spates said her three children were inside the home at the time of the shooting. Several bullets flew over the children's heads as they sat on the couch.

"When I called my daughter's name, she didn't answer," Spates recalled. "I actually thought she had been hit and killed, but she was able to get off the couch and behind the TV and balled up."

Two other homes and her neighbor's truck were shot at as well.

She said she's grateful nobody was hurt, but she has one major question for investigators to uncover.

"I just want to know why," Spates said. "Why us? Why?"
