MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) -

A tend of arson cases is leaving fire investigators puzzled. The latest cases involved dangerous Molotov cocktails thrown at a business.

The latest arson was at a car repair shop on Park Avenue. Employee Nicole Caldwell can’t imagine why anyone would throw two Molotov cocktails into the building.

"It's scary. I've heard about it, you know, happening, but I didn't think it would be so close," Caldwell said.

It happened around 2:00 Tuesday morning. Just like the other six recent arsons, investigators can find no witnesses. On Sunday, a person set an apartment on fire on Polk Avenue, near Crump Boulevard.

The fire caused $153,000 in damages and the residents had to be moved.

"Yeah it's scary, just a crazy world we live in," one neighbor said.

In Frayser, fire investigators said arson is the cause of a fire at a restaurant on North Watkins Street. Someone set the roof on fire. Workers made repairs and boarded it up.

Also on Sunday, in the 400 block of Speed, someone set a vacant house on fire. That was also done in the cover of darkness. But, that's not all. About a mile away, someone set the inside of another house on fire.

All of the fires have been set at night and no witnesses have come forward.

"We need for the neighbors to talk about it to tell what they see, but some many people live in fear of retaliation, it makes it hard to be a witness to those situations," neighbor Cynthia Davis said.
