A woman was shot and killed in the 1600 block of Monroe Avenue.

Police said the woman was found unresponsive inside of her apartment. She had been shot and was pronounced dead at the scene.

"We're just kind of freaked out; I just never seen that much law out here,” a neighbor said.

So far, no arrests have been made. Police later identified the victim as 28-year-old Bria Isaac.

Neighbors are becoming increasingly concerned.

"We heard screaming and stuff, family members; we thought it was just a fight,” one neighbor said. “Next thing we know, they're putting crime scene tape up all over the place."

Neighbors said the woman’s body had been there for several hours after she was shot.

This is the 180th homicide in Memphis this year. It comes at the end of the deadliest week of 2016, with nine homicides in seven days.

One neighbor started taking a screwdriver with her everywhere she goes for protection.

"If I'm just walking around the corner, this comes with me,” she said.
