New security measures are now in place after someone opened fire at a family hot spot in Memphis.

Saturday night, families enjoying the Mid-South Corn Maze at the Agricenter panicked when they heard gunshots.

"My family had the worst, most terrifying experience last night at the haunted corn maze. We experienced the shooting first hand as we were trying to leave which was downright terrifying," Elisha Hoskins wrote on Facebook.

"I think that's awful and discouraging for folks that want to come out and have a good family time," Mark Cary said.

Shelby County Sheriff's Office said it has increased patrols in the area.

"We're ramping up on Friday and Saturday nights; that's when they have the largest crowds," SCSO spokesman Earle Farrell said. "We're going to have a presence there from now through the end of the corn maze."

This is the first time in 16 years of the corn maze that someone has opened fire.

The Sheriff's office doesn't have any suspects so far. Investigators believe someone knows who fired these shots and are hoping a tip can help their investigation.

The corn maze is open Wednesday through Sunday, and it operates through Halloween weekend.
