MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) -

A woman was shot and killed at a gas station near the intersection of East Mallory Avenue and Lauderdale Street.

"It's devastating. It is because not too long ago we worked together and now she's gone," Frankie Jackson said.

According to Memphis Police Department, the 32-year-old woman was sitting in a car with another man at the Roma Mart around 4 a.m. A man then shot her from outside the car and ran away.

Police detained the man who was sitting in the car with the victim for questioning. A friend of the woman said she was shot multiple times.

"I was sitting on the front porch drinking a cold drink," neighbor Reginald Hawkins said. "I heard the shots. I didn't think nothing about it cause I didn't hear police cars."

Friends said the victim was an employee at FedEx.

FedEx released the following statement Tuesday:

"Our thoughts and concerns go out to the family and friends of our team member involved in this incident. We are cooperating fully with investigating authorities at this time."

No arrests have been made at this time.
