Musicians needed for 'Main Street Busking Challenge'

MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) -

Calling all musicians: The Downtown Memphis Commission is launching a new competition called the "Main Street Busking Challenge" to try and bring music to Main Street. The competition takes place two days this fall: October 28 and November 4.

The Main Street Busking Challenge is an open call for local musicians to perform on the Main Street mall between 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. on those two days. The audience will vote for their favorite performers over the course of the two days. Musicians can choose to perform on either one day, or both days to better their chances. The Grand Prize is a five hour studio session at Ardent studios. Gift Cards to downtown businesses will be give to second place and third place winners.

The Challenge is open to amateurs, students, and professionals in all genres of music. The performances will take place on Main Street between Peabody Place Avenue and Jefferson Avenue. For more information, or to register, click here
