MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) -

Students in the sixth and eighth grade at Lausanne Collegiate School faced off in a shake-down on Tuesday.

The middle schoolers spent the past few months studying different types of earthquakes and faults, and put their knowledge to the test.

The students used their knowledge of earthquakes to build towers and earthquake simulators.

The sixth graders put on their constructor hats and built houses they hoped could withstand the eight grader’s earthquake simulator table. Some houses were built from straws and marshmallows.

“We made this out of straws and lots of glue, because it would help keep everything to together,” sixth grader Evan Lewellyn said as he described his house.
