A Better Mid-South: Out of the Dark

Editorial by Tracey Rogers, Vice President and General Manager of WMC Action News 5.

I know many of you have been touched by suicide whether by a family member, friend or co-worker.  My husband lost a brother to suicide.  I know how difficult it is for a family to recover from a loss due to suicide.

That's why I want to make sure you know about the Out of the Darkness Community Walk this Saturday, October 22nd starting at 9 a.m. at the Memphis Botanical Gardens.

It's not too late to register and walk in memory of your loved one.

The Memphis Chapter of Out of the Darkness also offers monthly support group meetings for families who have lost someone to suicide.

Funds from the walk will support those groups and suicide prevention and awareness in the Mid-South.

I am proud our very own Joe Birch and Andrew Douglas are involved in these efforts and Andrew will be emceeing the walk this Saturday.

If you want to sign up, go to my Facebook page, A Better Mid-South and click the link to register.

Out of the Dark efforts to prevent suicide are making this A Better Mid-South.
