MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) -

The Memphis Police Department said a man they believed to have been barricaded inside an apartment on Tuesday now has warrants for five charges issued for his arrest.

According to police, officers were serving a warrant in the 4600 block of Millview Court in the South Pointe Townhomes for Dennis Compton.

Detectives were able to obtain evidence, but were not able to locate 20-year-old Compton at home.

Officers initially believed he was barricaded inside one of the apartments, which led to the evacuation of residents in the apartments and hours of police trying to make contact with him. Authorities later discovered he was not inside the apartment.

On Wednesday, warrants were issued for Compton for two counts of motor vehicle burglary, three counts of theft of property $500-$1,000, one count of theft of property under $500, evading arrest to wit: motor vehicle and evading arrest to wit: foot pursuit.
