MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) -

A security guard, who was not legally working, has been arrested following a shooting at an adult entertainment club in Memphis.

The shooting happened Wednesday in the 1800 block of East Brooks Road at Pure Passion strip club.

Officers arrived at the club, but did not find a victim. The victim, Kortez Collins, was gone because he drove himself to Regional Medical Center.

Maurice Steele, who was working as a security guard during the incident, told police he heard shots being fired outside the club. He went outside and saw Collins shooting in the parking lot.

Steele told officers he possibly shot Collins.

Collins said shortly after walking out of the club he realized he had been shot in the knee. That's when he drove himself to the hospital.

Officers are still investigating what happened and why, but they arrested Steele because his security guard license is expired and he does not own a handgun carry permit.
