MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) -

Thirty volunteers plan to transform a Memphis home for a veteran in need.

The unique home is said to be universally-designed and built from winning designs at an innovative housing competition.

Re-defining Home: Home Today, Home Tomorrow will hold a volunteer day make-over sponsored by AARP, AARP Foundation, Home Matters, the Wells Fargo Housing Foundation and Home Depot volunteers.

Organizers said the goal of this first-of-its-kind nationwide competition was to select the best plan for redesigning a typical American home that would allow a veteran to live in it through every stage of their life and age-in-place.

The home is being built in Memphis at 3674 Twinmont Cove and Volunteer day is Tuesday October, 25.

Volunteers will be working on the home between 10:00am - 12:30pm and from 1:30pm - 3:00pm.
