A singer in Florida took a knee while performing the national anthem before a preseason NBA game.

Denishia Lawrence wore a "Black Lives Matter" t-shirt and sang the entire national anthem resting on one knee at mid-court before the Miami Heat took on the Philadelphia 76ers in a preseason basketball game.

Lawrence posted on Facebook after her protest explaining her decision.

"We're seeing a war on black and brown bodies," Lawrence wrote. "I took the opportunity to sing and kneel to show that we belong in this country, and that we have the right to respectfully protest injustices against us."

Players and coaches of the Miami Heat stood with their arms linked, as they have during the national anthem at every game this preseason.
