Teachers treated to Grizz Party

MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) -

Wednesday night was the season opener of the Memphis Grizzlies and teachers in the Bluff City were treated to a special party to celebrate.

A total of 500 new teachers were cheering on the Grizz Wednesday.

Choose 901 hosted the educators, celebrated for recently choosing to live and work in Memphis, addressing one of the greatest civil rights issues of today. That is quality of Urban Education.

The pregame event was held at Clayborn Temple as a symbol of hope and possibility.

"The idea is that they Grit-N-Grind in the classroom all the time, so we wanted to give them an evening of Grit-N-Grind as the Grizzlies open their season up."

The new residents also got the chance to enjoy some Central BBQ, beer from local breweries, free t-shirts, and tickets to the big game where they were able to watch the Grizz knock off the Timberwolves for a win during their season opener.
