MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) -

In an attempt to keep kids out of trouble this Halloween weekend, a local barber is doing something positive, hoping that kids can gather in one place, show off their best costumes and have lots of safe fun.

Quintin Patrick, known as Scooby the Barber, is hosting a Halloween event for kids of all ages. It's a skate bash that'll be held on Saturday, October 29 from 6-11 p.m. at Crystal Palace Skating Rink, located at 3364 South Third Street, Memphis, TN 38109. The cost to attend the event is $6 per person.

At the event, kids can compete for a $100 cash prize for the best costume. They can also ride hover boards.

Organizers said custom candy bags will also be provided. People can donate candy at any point at 5707 Mount Moriah Road.

Despite a number of reported incidents at Crystal Palace, the organizer reassured WMC Action News 5 that security will be on hand and kids will be safe. The organizer said this is an event to keep kids out of trouble.

For more information about the event, call Quintin Patrick at 901-462-6874.
