Over 30 convicted sex offenders have not complied with state law and the Shelby County Sheriff's Office is searching for them just days prior to Halloween.

The sheriff's office posted the photos on their Facebook page.

The individuals are wanted for violating the sex offender registry laws. The sheriff's office is working to locate these people prior to Halloween, when children will be out trick-or-treating.

For children, Halloween can be one of their favorite times of the year. But, for parents, it's a time to keep an extra watch on their children.

"My favorite holiday of the year," Luke Hunter said.

Luke's mother, Ava, said she and her husband are careful when their children go trick-or-treating.

"Me and my husband both team up and we stay with the kids 24/7. We walk door to door with them," Ava said.

The sheriff's office is also doing whatever it can to keep children safe this Halloween.

"Sex offenders are out there and we want to alert the public so they can take steps," SCSO spokesman Earle Farrell said. "You know if you see these people call the sheriff's office. Also, when your kid is trick-or-treating, you should have an adult with you."

The Memphis Police Sex Offender Registry Unit is pitching in as well. They plan on assisting the Tennessee Department of Corrections with 'Operation Black Out.' They will go door to door to make sure sex offenders are in compliance.

For parents, that makes them feel safer.

"It does make me feel safe when the police out there doing all they can to watch over my kids, but, also I feel more in control when I'm with them as well," Ave said.

If you know where any of these individuals are located, you are asked to call Crime Stoppers at 901-528-CASH.
