The Race for the Cure weekend starts Friday in Memphis.

Friday will start with a 'Chalking in Memphis' event, where residents and racers can write the name of a loved one or friend touched by breast cancer on the street.

Later, a free concert will take place in W.C. Handy Park at 6 p.m.

Saturday morning the race will leave from AutoZone park at 9 a.m.--registration starts at 7:30 a.m.

But with all of these fun events, Downtown Memphis will be a bit difficult to navigate.

The array of events will certainly impact traffic Saturday morning, beginning at 7:30 a.m.

The Suzan Komen Race begins at AutoZone Park on Union Avenue and BB King. They will then take off from there and travel through Downtown Memphis, along Riverside and Front Street. They will go near FedExForum and Fourth Street. Racers will then circle back and end at AutoZone Park.

That means multiple parking lots and roads in Downtown Memphis will experience heavy pedestrian traffic. So, pack your patience if you are headed down there for the race. It is all for a good cause and is only for one day.

The race begins at 9 a.m.

For those not participating in the activities, to avoid the traffic you can just avoid Downtown Memphis on Saturday morning.
