MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) -

A man was convicted of trying to kill his estranged wife's boyfriend in 2012.

According to Shelby County District Attorney General Amy Weirich, Mario Myers went to his wife's house on Wilshire Road in October 2012. She was home with their two children and her boyfriend.

Myers and his wife started arguing about their son when the boyfriend tried to intervene. Myers then pulled out a gun and fired two shots at the boyfriend, injuring him in the shoulder and back. He was taken to the hospital in non-critical condition.

Myers then hit his wife in the head with a phone and drove off with their son, daughter, and a third child.

Memphis police officers caught Myers at Third Street and Union Avenue after stopping him with a blockade.

Myers was convicted of attempted first-degree murder, aggravated assault, reckless endangerment, and intentionally evading arrest. He will be sentenced next month.
