Shoppers will flock to Memphis on December 14 to experience the long-awaited grand opening of IKEA.

The store at 7900 IKEA Way is beginning to take shape.

"We're moving right along," store manager Trisha Bevering said. "We're building furniture, getting product in, so we're right on track. We're doing great."

The store will sell a wide variety of affordable home furnishings.

"You can see anything from bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchens, in different style expressions and also in different living situations for a family," Bevering said.

If you've never been to IKEA, it can be a bit overwhelming. The store has more than 271,000 square feet of space.

IKEA is so large that shoppers are given maps to help navigate the store. Plus, if you're worried about getting lost, you can always follow the grey concrete road--sorry Dorothy, no yellow bricks here--to get back to where you need to be.

With all of that space, traversing the store can take a while. That's why IKEA installed its own supervised play area where parents can drop their children off while they shop.

Another highly anticipated feature of IKEA is its restaurant.

IKEA is arguably more famous for its Swedish Meatballs than its affordable furniture.

The restaurant is coming along and will be ready for shoppers (and diners) on December 14.

IKEA is still looking for some people to work at the store. If you're interested, click here.
