MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) -

Editorial by Tracey Rogers, Vice President and General Manager of WMC Action News 5.

The brand new Big River Crossing is a huge hit in the Mid-South counting more than 20,000 visitors in it's first week.

Now, phase 2: Construction will begin connecting the pedestrian-cycling pathway to new river trails directly across the Mississippi River from Downtown Memphis.

The new phase is being described as Shelby Farms West. It's the 1,700 acre Delta Regional River Park.

I also hope you have seen the bridge lit up in person, video, or photos.

It's a beacon for those of us who live and love the Mid-South and for visitors who come to our city.

This is the type of development that makes Memphis even better.

Tell me what you love about the new Big River Crossing, email me at abettermidsouth@wmctv.com or post on my Facebook page, A Better Mid-South.

The Big River Crossing and soon to be developed River Park are making this A Better Mid-South.
