MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) -

An incident at a Memphis school resulted in threats being made against police officers.

It's a bit of a convoluted story that involves school fights, arguments with the principal, and family members defending each other. However, it also led to one person threatening officers.

"This little boy hit me because they said I had dissed they gang," 12-year-old Dorothy said. "When we talked to the principal this morning, she trying to cross over me."

Dorothy's relatives arrived at the school to defend her and eventually the police were called.

Officers had several relatives in custody when Dorothy's brother called 911. He told dispatchers he was going to shoot the officers on the scene.

Soon after that call, officers stopped a car full of Dorothy's other relatives and pulled them all out of the vehicle at gunpoint. They were searching for a gun, but didn't find one. The brother that made threats against officers was not in the vehicle.

"He was here at the house and he had walked around there after everybody else had got arrested," Ashley, Dorothy's Godsister, said. "So why was he threatening police? I don't know."

Despite officers nationwide being on guard after two Iowa officers were killed Wednesday morning, Ashley said she still thinks the officers overreacted.

"I mean, to me, it still doesn't give them a reason to pull all they guns," she said. "He shouldn't have (threatened police). He should have just left it alone. He should have just went home and stayed out of the way."

Police arrested the man who called in the threats. It is unclear what charges he is facing.

It turns out, he only had a BB gun with him.
