U of M women's soccer heads to AAC tournament

MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) -

The Tiger Women's Soccer team will play SMU in the first round of the American Athletic Conference Tournament in Connecticut on Friday.

The U of M women, who got a first round bye, are the number two seed at 8-1 in the League and 14-3-1 overall.

Senior Valerie Sanderson is the Tigers' all-time leading goal scorer with 52 in her career. She has 16 goals this season.

"We've been having a lot of wins and a lot of success," Sanderson said.  "And i think our schedule was perfect and our conference is good. And going to the NCAA Tournament would be really great."

Kickoff for the Tigers and SMU is 3:30 p.m. The AAC Winner gets an automatic NCAA Tournament bid.
