OXFORD, MS (WMC) -

Ole Miss survived a scare in Oxford.

The Georgia Southern Eagles came out of the gate hot, jumping out to an early 14-3 lead that included a blocked punt and two tough scores.

The Rebels, however, came firing back with a 28-point 2nd quarter that included 21 unanswered points.

Once Ole Miss went on top, they didn’t surrender their lead and came away with the 37-27 victory.

Georgia Southern, who moved the ball for 401 yards on the day, was limited to just a pair of 2nd half field goals as the Landshark D buckled down.

Ole Miss QB Chad Kelly threw for 226 yards and a touchdown on the day.

The Rebs improved to 4-5 on the season but sit last in the SEC West standings with a 1-4 conference record.

Next week, Ole Miss will travel to College Station to take on Texas A&M, who is ranked four but will drop after being upset by Mississippi State.
