DALLAS, TX (WMC) -

The Tigers went into Dallas reeling after two straight big losses to conference foes and looking to gain momentum.

By all means, they succeeded. Memphis jumped out to an early lead and kept their foot on the throttle in a 51-7 win over SMU.

Riley Ferguson looked to end any criticism with a huge game, completing 20 of his 27 passes for 287 yards and 4 touchdowns.

Darrell Henderson provided the special teams work—he returned a kickoff 99 yards to end the first quarter. It was the Tigers third kickoff return for a touchdown this season, which is tied for the most in the nation.

Memphis totaled 474 total yards on the game, but more importantly did not turn the ball over while forcing three SMU turnovers.

The Tigers grabbed their third conference win on the season and now stand at 6-3 and are bowl eligible in their first year under head coach Mike Norvell.

Memphis will come back home next week to take on South Florida.
