Friends and family members said goodbye to a teen who was shot and killed days before her 17th birthday.

Colonial Hills Church in Southaven was packed Sunday with people wearing tie-dye shirts for Alana Tello, who was a student at Horn Lake High School.

“She's remembered for the tie-dye and the bun on the head. I'll always remember her,” friend Kayla Sandy said. “You can't forget her; you can't even try. Because she's that special of a person and she didn't deserve this at all.”

Friends still cannot believe Alana is gone.

“We grew up since we were in diapers, and now she's not going to be here, and I don't know what to do because she was just sunshine,” Kimberly Stanford said.

What many remember best about Alana is her bright personality.

"She enjoyed every second of life and I enjoyed every second of hanging out with her," friend Dillon Butler said. "She's one of my best friends in this entire world and this is probably one of the hardest days I've ever had in my life."

Memphis police arrested one person in connection to Tello’s death. Seventeen-year-old Marcus Malone is charged with second-degree murder.

Friends said Tello was there to fight another girl when the shots were fired.

"She would start singing to us like those stupid Adele songs," Stanford said with a laugh. "And she would just hold us and we don't even have that friend anymore."

Friends had one thing to say to 17-year-old Marcus Malone, who was charged with second-degree murder Friday in connection with Tello's death.

"She didn't deserve this at all," Kayla Sandy said.

Police said six suspects walked up to Tello before the shooting. As of now, only Malone has been arrested.
