Cardinals prospects help lead West to victory in Fall Stars Game

MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) -

The Arizona Fall League held its annual Fall Stars Game this past weekend, and St. Louis prospects Harrison Bader and Carson Kelly helped lead the West squad to a 12-4 win over the East team.

Bader, an outfielder who is the Cardinals’ third prospect overall according to mlbpipeline.com, has done well in Arizona so far.  He’s hitting .306 through 13 games in the desert. In the Fall Stars game, he went 2-for-5. Kelly went 1-for-2 in the game. Between them, they scored three runs and knocked in two runs.

In the second inning, Bader’s double represented the first hit of the game.  Two batters later, catching prospect Carson Kelly brought Bader home with an RBI single that began a four-run uprising for the victorious West.  Kelly is the Cardinals’ number 11 prospect according to mlbpipeline.com.  He’s hitting .260 in the AFL so far, with two homers.

Again in the third inning, Bader and Kelly were in the midst of another four-run outburst. Bader singled and scored, and Kelly had a RBI on a sacrifice fly. 

The Arizona Fall League continues their season through November 19th.
