MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) -

A man shot on Thanksgiving Day outside Wolfchase is now out of the hospital and recovering.

His father hopes that incidents like this will increase the security at the mall.

“This my baby boy; don't no parent want to go through this,” he said.

The father’s 21-year-old son was shot outside Wolfchase Galleria on Thanksgiving Day.

“Thanksgiving Day, trying to get Black Friday shopping early and this is what happens,” he said.

At last check, the suspect has not been caught. That’s one reason the man’s father did not want to be identified.

However, another man was arrested for unlawful possession of a weapon.

“He was shot in the stomach, in the leg, and in the arms. He was shot multiple times,” the man’s father said.

He hopes the mall has some major changes soon.

“We need to focus on more security at these malls and getting a presence out here with the police department,” he said.

Last year, Wolfchase had the highest number of crimes reported. There were 256 incidents, including 200 thefts and eight cars stolen.

Wolfchase said there are 24-hour patrols and they are investing in new equipment to enhance customer safety.
