(WMC) -

Durham School Services' CEO David Duke announced major safety changes being made to his company nationwide.

The announcement comes less than two weeks after six children were killed in a school bus crash in Chattanooga. The driver of that bus, Johnthony Walker, was arrested and charged with vehicular homicide. At least 22 other students were taken to the hospital to be treated for injuries.

Duke said Durham School Services will make the following changes:

  1. Implement a nationwide cloud-based management system that will be used to file complaints. It will connect directly to every school that utilizes the company.
  2. Install smart cameras that will record bus drivers and the road when they sense unusual activity. These cameras are expected to be installed on every bus within the next two years.
  3. A chief data & safety compliance officer will be appointed by the end of first quarter 2017. That person will work with the senior VP of safety and report tot he CEO. He/she will also review all available data to identify potential issues before they become bigger problems.
