Kendall Downing joined the WMC Action News 5 team in November 2016. He currently anchors weekend morning newscasts and reports during the week, focusing on city and county government.
He is no stranger to the history and legacy of 1960 Union Avenue. Kendall grew up in Tipton County and spent his childhood watching WMC Action News 5. He worked as a newsroom intern one summer while he was in college.
He comes to WMC Action News 5 from Indianapolis, where he worked for nearly three years as a reporter/fill-in anchor at WXIN/WTTV. While in Indy, he covered major stories, from the federal prosecution of former Subway spokesperson and Indiana native Jared Fogle, to the selection of Indiana Governor Mike Pence as Donald Trump's running-mate and their eventual presidential election victory in New York City.
Kendall has also made stops at two Kentucky television stations, WPSD in Paducah and WYMT in Hazard. He won numerous awards for his reporting and photojournalism in both Kentucky and Indiana. He is a proud alumnus of The University of Tennessee - Knoxville where he studied journalism & electronic media.
