MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - A man was shot and killed outside a convenience store Friday, according to police.
An employee at Grizzly Mart, in the 4600 block of Horn Lake Road, said the store is closed because someone was shot outside the store.
Family and friends said the man killed 23-year-old Addarrell Anderson, a young father. He was shot in front of the gas pump.
"We got to raise them, help raise them, help bring them up, and to nurture them where the Lord want them to be at," family friend Tony Christian said of Anderson's kid. "Because we as a community we love them and care for them. If we got a heart for him, we gotta have a heart for his kids."
Memphis police officers said they received the call at approximately 4:14 p.m. When they arrived, they found the man dead from a gunshot wound. Investigators said the man was involved in an altercation with someone he knew.
"Just laying there and all I could say is it hurt me so bad," a woman who knew the victim said.
The woman didn't want to be identified, but said she burst into tears when she saw the man was dead.
"I stopped the car and started crying and it hurt just seeing him laying there," she said.
The suspect was seen leaving the scene in a gray Hyundai with a female passenger in the vehicle. No one is in custody at this time.
