February temps not looking quite as cold

February temps not looking quite as cold

(WMC) - Temperatures have finally returned to winter time levels which will last through the weekend. But let's look ahead to the month of February. Most of the long range climate models had a cold look for February, but they seem to be backing off on that now. The 7-14 day outlook has the Mid-South with a 40-50 percent probability of above average temperatures and that lines up with our projected highs in the upper 50s to near 60 by next Tuesday.

The rest of February is looking a little more mild or at least not terribly cold. The latest outlook from the Climate Prediction Center shows near normal or just above average temps. I still think a couple of blasts of colder air will come in before the month ends, but they may only stick around a few days. But if the pattern stays in its current setup, snow fans may not be happy.
