MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - JCPenney is closing 138 stores across the country this year, four of which are in the Mid-South.
The retail chain announced it would close the stores following tough financial reports and similar decisions from other big box stores.
The JCPenney stores in the Mid-South are located in the following locations: Corinth, MS, Oxford, MS, Blytheville, AR, and Union City, TN.
JCPenney said the stores are expected to close sometime in June. Employees will be given relocation opportunities, according to the company.
JCPenney's CEO is Marvin Ellison, who grew up in Brownsville, TN, and graduated from University of Memphis. He became JCPenney's CEO in August 2015.
