NBA Labor Deal Delayed July 21, 2005 at 2:57 AM CDT - Updated July 2 at 12:30 AM The Papers may be on the table and the Pens in hand, but the NBA is putting all Free Agent signings on hold for the time being.. That means players, like Grizzlies forward Stromile Swift, can't sign that proposed deal with the Houston Rockets just yet. Friday was supposed to be the first day Free Agents could begin signing contracts, but the Leagues' new collective bargaining agreement with the Players Union is not Finalized. The NBA sent out a memo to teams informing them to hold off indefinitely. That means the Grizzlies will have even longer to try and negotiate a Sign and Trade deal with disgruntled guard Bonzi Wells. Wells is due to make $8-Million dollars next season.
