You could say Memphian Loren Roberts is aging gracefully. After turning 50 last month he's been tearing up the Champions tour. A 5th place finish in last week's British Senior Open, now he's tied for the LEAD at the U.S. Senior Open.
Roberts was fighting a cold but you could never tell by his play in the 3rd round. He comes out a ball of fire, makes the birdie putt on 8. And watch what happens here on the par 5,10th: He lands it behind the hole and spins it right back into the cup. Incredible! An Eagle from out 70 yards out.
He took at 3 stroke lead for while at 12 under but settles in for a 3rd round 69. Roberts remains tied for the tournament lead with Craig Stadler at 11under par heading into the final round.
If Roberts can pull it out, he would become the youngest player to ever win the U.S. Senior Open.
