Toronto plane crash investigation

A team of investigators has left France for Toronto, to look into yesterday's fiery end of an Air France flight.

The plane skidded off a runway in Toronto and burst into flames.

There were more than 300 people on board, but they all escaped. Air France says 22 people were hurt, while airport officials put that number at 43.

Air France is also sending a team, including medical personnel and a psychologist. And the company's chairman says everyone will be compensated for the "physical, moral and material damage" they have suffered.

Investigators are focusing on weather conditions. There was a heavy rainstorm at the time, with lightning and strong winds.

Officials say the airport was under a "red alert", meaning a potential for lightning, but it doesn't keep planes from landing or taking off.
