More Moves Expected for Grizzlies

Now the Grizzlies are waiting for the other shoe, or point guard, to fall.

After pulling off Tuesday nights' megatrade with the Miami Heat sending Jason Williams to South Florida...Memphis is concentrating on bringing Damon Stoudemire to the Bluff City.

But getting him here could be more of a problem in dealing with his team, the Portland Trailblazers.

Stoudamire, a former NBA Rookie of the Year, said last week the Blazers nixed a sign a trade deal with the Rockets in his hometown of Houston...

So now Stoudamire would have to take less money as an unrestricted free agent to come to Memphis.

Portland General Manager John Nash Wednesday night did little to dispute that claim..saying Memphis' offer is probably the best Stoudemire will get.

The Grizzlies are reportedly offering Stoudamire 4-years and $17-Million Dollars.

Stoudamire averaged almost 16-points and 6-assists for the Blazers last season.

As an 8-year veteran, he'd bring toughness and experience to a new Grizzlies lineup that is skewing older and more battle tested for next season.

More moves are expected with Center Lorenzen Wright and Point Guard Earl Watson looking to leave...

But unless those moves bring a Bear of a Big man to Memphis, nothing is bigger than last nights' 5-team, 13-player trade altering the heart of the Grizzlies Back Court.

Jason Williams now becomes the Heats' starting Point guard.

James Posey will be asked to be Miami's stopper of the bench.

That's he role he can fill, if he gets over injuries which limited him to just 50-games last season.

The New Look Grizzlies will meet the New Look Heat in NBA Pre-Season action October 14th in Puerto Rico.
