Bonobo born at Memphis Zoo - WMC Action News 5 - Memphis, Tennessee

Bonobo born at Memphis Zoo

There is reason to celebrate at the Memphis Zoo. A Bonobo was born earlier this week. Bonobo's are also called Pygmy Chimps. They are a highly endangered species of primate and only 84 of them live in captivity in North America.

The zoo's new addition was born Tuesday night just before midnight. She and her mother Kiri are on exhibit with three other Bonobos at the Memphis zoo.

Video of the pair is available on the zoo website.
