When the Grizzlies open their 5th NBA season here in Memphis November 2nd against the Miami Heat...the spotlight will include more than just the return of former Grizzlies players Jason Williams and James Posey.
The event will mark a homecoming for former Memphis Tigers Center Earl Barron.
Barron signed a Free Agent Contract with the Heat today..
The 7-footer from Clarksdale, Mississippi took the long road to the NBA..
After being pushed and prodded as a Tiger by Coach John Calipari..Barron took his game overseas to Turkey in 2002..
He spent the last 2-years in the NBA's Developmental League at Huntsville, before catching on with the Heats' Summer League team.
Barron impressed Heat President Pat Riley, averaging more than 17 points and 7 rebounds a game..
Now, he's in the Big Time.
