The Tennessee Titans honored a West Tennessee woman who lost her husband in the Las Vegas shooting earlier this year.

During Sunday’s game against the Houston Texans at Nissan Stadium, Heather Melton was the honorary 12th Titan.

Her husband, Sonny, was shot and killed while trying to protect her during the October massacre. The couple was in Las Vegas that weekend to celebrate their one year wedding anniversary.

The Sonny Melton Scholarship Fund was setup in his honor, and the Titans Foundation has donated $10,000 to the project.

Meanwhile, Heather created the Living the Dream Foundation, whose goal is to help low income families during Christmas.

Its first project will provide local families with all of their holiday needs, including a meal, clothes, decorations and more.

Donations can be dropped off at 1015 Kelley Drive in Paris, Tennessee.
