NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

A Nashville murder case that drew national attention has taken a major step forward.

On Wednesday morning, Daniel Clark pleaded not guilty to all charges connected with the shooting death of John Stevens.

Clark is accused of shooting Stevens while he was working at an Exxon gas station in west Nashville.

Trinity Quinn, 15, is facing charges for allegedly serving as an accomplice. The two ran after the deadly shooting, triggering a massive hours-long manhunt.

Clark's family told News 4 that all of this is extremely out of character for him. His parents say he was under a lot of stress before the shooting and worry that he may have been on drugs when he allegedly pulled the trigger.

Clark has been appointed a public defender. His next court date has been set for Feb. 1.
