Mayor will advise council on parks controversy

Memphis Mayor Willie Herenton will make his  recommendation to the City Council parks committee, concerning three parks named for the confederacy tomorrow.

Herenton wants to convey Confederate and Jefferson Davis Parks to the Riverfront Development Corporation for public purposes.

And he wants to give Forrest Park to the U-T Health Science Center.

Herenton says the city council should NOT vote on the issue of renaming the parks.

Again, the mayor's office will make its recommendations tomorrow.
