BTK Killer begins prison sentence

BTK serial killer Dennis Rader is in an orange prison jumpsuit inside a maximum-security prison.

He arrived this morning in a three-vehicle caravan, escorted by seven Kansas state troopers. He starts his ten consecutive life prison terms by being fingerprinted and photographed.

Rader will undergo a screening that will determine whether he stays at the El Dorado Correctional Facility or is transferred elsewhere.

Rader's entry into the prison was routine, other than for the media on hand. In prison, he'll be locked down 23 hours a day at least initially, leaving his cell only to shower and exercise.

Rader was sentenced yesterday, after pleading guilty in June to ten murders from 1974 to 1991.
